1 Million Cups Victor Valley is a weekly meetup for High Desert entrepreneurs, run by a revolving group of local volunteers. This page says what this website collects about you, who receives it, and what you can do about it. It covers this website, 1mcvictorvalley.com. It does not cover the organizer portal, which is for chapter organizers and presenters and has its own sign-in.

What we collect, and who handles it

When you visit a page. Every page you open is delivered through Cloudflare, which sits between your browser and our web host. Cloudflare and the host see the details any website sees: your IP address, the page requested, and your browser and device type. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site quickly and to block attacks. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure how fast pages load. Cloudflare says this service does not track individual visitors across other websites.

Albacross, which identifies the businesses that visit. We use Albacross to see which local businesses visit this site. When a page opens, Albacross receives your IP address, the address and title of the page, your screen size, your browser and operating system, and an identifier that tells visitors on the same network apart. Albacross may match your IP address to a company. If it does not match a company, Albacross says it deletes the address. Albacross says it keeps data related to its cookies for 24 months, and that it may also use information it holds to advertise to companies. We use Albacross's free plan with its default settings. The volunteers on the chapter's organizing team can see its reports.

Albacross describes this as information about companies, not people. Where your IP address belongs to you or your own small business, it can identify you, and you have the rights below.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we do not load Albacross at all. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, or use a content blocker.

Newsletter. If you sign up for the weekly reminder, the form sends your email address, and your first name, last name and company if you give them, to Mailchimp, which sends the email for us. We use the list only to send the weekly reminder about who is presenting. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you. Mailchimp's own privacy statement applies to what it holds.

Video. The About page loads a video from Vimeo when the page opens. On the home page the video loads only when you press play. Vimeo receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.

Fonts. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them, and Google sees your IP address.

What stays on your device. If you switch between light and dark mode, the site remembers your choice in your browser's own storage. It is not sent anywhere.

Presenters. If you present at a meeting, the name, business, photo, links and description you give us are published on your presenter page. We publish only what you give us for that purpose, and you can ask us to change or remove it.

Links to other sites. Share buttons, social links and the application portal take you to other organisations' sites. Their privacy policies apply there.
