1 Million Cups isn't a networking mixer or a pitch competition. It's a standing weekly commitment that a room full of entrepreneurs makes to show up for each other.

That regularity is the whole engine. When the same community gathers every single week, presenters get real feedback instead of polite applause, relationships compound instead of resetting at every event, and a High Desert entrepreneurial community becomes something people can actually point to and join.

The format is deliberately built around honesty and reciprocity. A founder gets six minutes to say where their business really is, then hands the floor to the room for twenty minutes of open questions. No pitch deck required, no funding on the line, nothing to sell. Every presentation ends the same way: "What can we as a community do to help you?" Asked out loud, every week, that question is what turns a room of strangers into a genuine support network. It's the connective tissue a growing entrepreneurial ecosystem needs to actually knit together.

How it works

    Backed by the Kauffman Foundation

    1 Million Cups was created by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a national foundation dedicated to growing entrepreneurship in cities across the country. Kauffman set the format: free, weekly, six minutes and twenty. It now backs more than 100 independently organized chapters nationwide, including right here in Victor Valley. That national backing means every local chapter draws on a program refined by hundreds of communities before it, while still being run entirely by local volunteers who know their own community best.

    1 Million Cups Victor Valley exists because a group of Startup Mojave volunteers decided the High Desert deserved a seat at that national table. They organize it week after week, unpaid, because they believe in what it builds: real collaboration between founders who'd otherwise never meet, the transfer of hard-won skills from one business to the next, and a steadily more connected local ecosystem.
